“San Juanderer” is a tourist guide inserted annually in the Anacortes American and Skagit Valley Herald newspapers. This was first insert project I worked on as part of the American team. The publisher told me to “rip it a new ***hole.” It was great fun. I created a new masthead, editorial design, and island maps. This project was awarded “Best Tourism and Community Guide” in the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association’s “Better Newspapers” contest.
